…Yoga or cardio?

Posted by Ali on January 19, 2012

Right now my goal: to be happier with myself, and get in better shape. This is all, of course, tied into my long term goal of becoming a horse trainer. :)

It’s weird to come to a realization.. Ever since the last blog post where I “decided” what I wanted to do, my mind has calmed down and has been hard at work figuring out how I make this happen, along with juggling 10 other things, of course. I can’t think about only 1 thing at a time, not possible for my mind, haha. Needs a minimum of 3 to be truly successful. Don’t ask me how.

But… the point of this blog. I have been a fan of Zenner Yoga on facebook for a while. See, I love yoga. I haven’t ever attended classes, no time, no $$. But I have always enjoyed the high I get after doing it. My mind is always “on” and yoga really makes my mind slow down. But I wasn’t sure if yoga was the right thing for me to do right now, because I need to lose weight – that means cardio right? Well, the thing is I hate cardio. I get bored, my mind just races and it’s such a drag for me. Doesn’t matter if it’s on a treadmill or outside, I’ve just never liked it. Ideally, a mix of cardio/yoga/pilates would probably be best. But… I don’t have time for that. I will be lucky to work a 30-40 min. workout a few times a week in. Seeking advice, I posted a question on the “Zenner Yoga” FB page asking for an opinion, and she said something pretty awesome:

“What I would like you to think about… is what you LOVE, you will make a part of your lifestyle which is what you need to do to make an impact and see results over time”

There’s my answer, I’m going to do yoga. It may not burn the fat as quickly, but I enjoy it… Doing something I hate (like cardio) isn’t going to work, I’ve proven that to myself many times before. I want this to be real, not a 2 month thing, I want this to last and have an impact on my life.

My first step: I ordered the “Fluidity Connection Level I” DVD from Zenner Yoga… Step II will be doing it once I get the DVD… That will be exciting :)

Thanks for reading and following what I hope is an amazing journey! :)
