Who’s Ali & What is Filly Tracks?
Filly Tracks focuses on educating people about horse training and horse rescues in an effort to help ensure horses are well kept and do not end up at auctions, or in slaughter houses. A large portion of all money raised by Filly Tracks is donated to other horse rescues or sanctuaries in the United States. In late 2010, Filly Tracks started Happyloosas, which will one day be an appaloosa rescue, and provide a confidence building program for children and teens. Many funds raised or donated currently are sent to Happyloosas. No donations to Filly Tracks or Happyloosas are currently tax-deductable. We are currently researching registering Happyloosas as a tax-exempt corporation, and hope to have our tax-exempt status by the end of 2012.
Filly Tracks was started by me, Ali. Many of the blogs are related to educating people on horses – whether training, rescue, care, and learning what the public thinks about horses and horse rescues. Other blogs may feature a horse for adoption through a rescue within the United States, training experience with my personal horses, and sometimes outside horses. In August of 2010 I also starting drawing, and hope to blog about my art pieces and help raise money for horses
My Personal Horses…

Yes that’s me! Yes I have pink/purple hair! Don’t worry, none of the dye has gone to my head, haha. And that’s one of my horses, Annie. I purchased her in late December of 2009. She’s a haflinger mare born in Feb. of 2003. When I purchased Annie, she was a few months from 7 years old, and was only halter broke. She had been handled though, picked up her hooves, could touch her anywhere, so she had a good start. When we started doing ground work she put up quite a fight. I sought help from the own of our barn, and since then Annie has been great. She isn’t show-ready or anything, but she’s a great trail horse, and has helped me with my yearling Brady. I’ve ponied off of her, can ride her all over the property. Hopefully we’ll show in the future, she’s very sensitive to her handler or rider. As soon as her and I loose a few pounds I would love to event with her, but we both need to be in better shape first

And then there’s Brady… Brady is a 2009 irish draught gelding expected to mature about 17hh – 17.1hh. We’ve had him since July of 2010, and he’s such a goofball! He has a truly amazing personality. Everyone who meets him just falls in love with him, between his cuteness and gentle disposition. He is quite the attention hog though. If you don’t pay attention to him he’ll pul your hat off, try to take your shirt, gloves, anything he can get his mouth on! He’s very gentle, and his breeder did a fabulous job raising him. You can touch him anywhere, pick all of his hooves up, do pretty much anything you want with him!
What does the future hold?
In 2011 we hope to keep focus on educating people about horses in need, and start blogging more about Ali’s drawings – mainly stipple drawings, which will be sold to benefit horse rescues. Of course, we want to continue to raise money and donate it to various horse rescues through fundraising events.
We also want to focus on gathering opinions and information from rescues and the general public to be able to properly educate the public. We’ve already had our first survey, questioning how much a person running a horse rescue should make. We hope to expand on that topic and write articles regarding horses and horse rescue. The more we know, the more successful we’ll be!
