Ali with Annie and Brady in the snow

Welcome to Our Site

Welcome to Filly Tracks! This is my personal blog related to horse and art related content. I sell artwork to benefit horse rescues and also do commission work (of which a % is also donated to a rescue.) The blogs go from my past and current experience with my horses, horse rescues, fundraising, training, or anything else I'm in the mood to write about that day. In the next year I hope to really boost my portfolio and get more into my art, which I will use to support horse rescue and raise awareness to educate the public about the overpopulation of horses - specifically what we can all do to help cut down on homeless animals and pets.

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy your visit!

See – dressage is for every hors… er, mule?

Posted by Ali on January 20, 2012

I saw this video on facebook and thought it was pretty awesome… So many people think it’s a small portion of horses that can do, or should do dressage, and those groups are stereotypically dressage competitors and eventers. The thing is, that is sooooo not the case! Every person and horse should experience some dressage [...]

…Yoga or cardio?

Posted by Ali on January 19, 2012

Right now my goal: to be happier with myself, and get in better shape. This is all, of course, tied into my long term goal of becoming a horse trainer. It’s weird to come to a realization.. Ever since the last blog post where I “decided” what I wanted to do, my mind has calmed [...]

Missing STB gelding: All Time Hit

Posted by Ali on January 18, 2012

Two years ago we sold one of our stb’s to an Amish man in Millersburg, IN. He was sold with the understanding that he would call us if he decided he didn’t want him anymore. I called several times to check on him and [...]

What I want to do…

Posted by Ali on January 12, 2012

As a kid, we all got the “what do you want to be when you grow up?” type questions. They change through time, but until you get a real job, people continue to ask what you want to do and what you’re going to do when you get out of school with your degree, etc. [...]

Separating the artwork.

Posted by Ali on January 6, 2012

This past year my artwork has grown a lot, and I have to give major credit to Horse Rescue United for allowing me to draw their fabulous horses. I am excited to continue drawing their horses going forward I have decided to give my artwork it’s own website and center since it’s been growing, and [...]

2011 is almost over…

Posted by Ali on December 28, 2011

A year ago today, in 2010, my grandmother passed away. On Christmas of 2010, I was so busy rushing to get our horse’s out of a crazy lady Karen’s barn, I didn’t see her. I missed my chance to see my Grandma, for the last time, on Christmas. I was, for a lack of better [...]

More than just riding…

Posted by Ali on December 27, 2011

I got to thinking the other day.. When was the last time I rode a horse? Well… 4-5 months I believe. The weird thing is I don’t have the drive to ride right now. There are reasons, I still love horses and working with them. But this got me thinking to why I haven’t ridden… Well, we only have 1 horse that I could ride [...]

Slow down Annie!

Posted by Ali on December 13, 2011

I’m working with Annie on the straightness training. Our current exercises include the LFS (lateral bending, forward down, and stepping under) at a walk on a circle, short bursts of LFS on a line, and the shoulder-in. One of the problems I have been having with Annie was her walking to fast. All of this [...]

Brady rocks the arena!

Posted by Ali on December 10, 2011

I decided recently Brady should get some more ground work attention. We usually take him on walks and brush him, even tack him up for his walks. But I think it’s time for me to ask a little more of him. Not too much more, just some trotting and some ground poles. Using his brain [...]

Brady might be ready…

Posted by Ali on December 9, 2011

Yep, ready… for… the next step in his training. Still short sessions, but some more trotting and work. He’s a big boy and he’s put on some weight since being at the new barn. He felt so great the other night he kept pawing while I was leading him and eventually reared up. He was [...]
